ABSTRACT

Flicker Forever is a proposal for an installation in a controlled environment. The piece arises from a story written by myself and explores the use of this narrative to create the various elements in the installation. There are three parts to the installation :-

  • 1. Renderings and sketches of the proposed space.
  • 2. Design and fabrication of the object/video sculpture
  • 3. Story boards and stills for the animation.
  • The main protagonist in this installation is called Photinus. Photinus is a buoyant video sculpture, made out of foam and coated with a resin. I will be creating Photinus using advanced modeling techniques in Maya and then fabricating the form using a CNC router. The power for the embedded LCD screen will be provided with a 22 watt solar panel. My interest lies in creating experiences for people in physical space's that are driven by a narrative.
